Three generations united by the same red goal. We build for each other. We search involuntary for the hidden beauty. We respect the life simple rule: be present! Always in the front line, always assumed! And when the progress meats the colors and textures of the past generations, life settles down, good and simple. We are three generations that had continuously worked for life.
1994
Our story begins
sometimes in 1994
When Sorin Szabo bought the land where it is the actual mansion. Back then, here it was an old and abandoned building of a CAP. Apparently a building that wasn’t of a big interest anymore…..
Nevertheless I’ve seen an opportunity, to improve ourselves, to overachieve.
Long time ago, inside of us it was starting to grow the idea of opening our first family business. So, vouching with the building, we took a loan from the bank and opened a garment factory.
One acquisition now, one later.

1998
Archia domain continues
to expand
Meanwhile, we continued to buy land and in 1998 we end up building our first house: the Villa across the river.
We had the land, the factory and a team. All we wanted was to have a place where we could spend some quality time together, doing a barbeque, telling stories, be close to the nature.

2003
Later….in 2003, our business partners from Holland gave us a horse named Larava. Straight away Sorin love dit and this is how it started his long lasting love for horses and horse riding.
What came next, it’s our family motto:
We say we’ll do it small and end it up big.
”Since we receive it, we should build a stable.”, said back then Sorin..
But they become stables with 13 horse rooms and another 10 outside.

2005
A little bit later…In 2005 uncle Lulu came from Spain. He told us he had a new technology.
More efficient, to build wodden houses. So we decided to build the Garden House.

2006-2007
Archia domain continues to change it’s look.
In 2006 and 2007, we sold our 2 garment factories. In the same time, we applied for a European fund of 100000 Euros for a small, 10 rooms, and tourist pension. But our motto kicked in again. Straight away after the project was done and we begun to build we realized that it will be a 15 rooms, restaurant and conference room pension.
Why people would come to Archia?
During the construction, Virginia Szabo , who is attracted more by the artistic side, asked herself this question. She realized it has to be a special place, and the design must show this. She ends it up with the conclusion that she can’t take care by herself of this chapter from the mansion story.
Things settle down nice and easy. Virginia met Delia Ristovski, the talented designer which later became our god daughter and part of the family. Together they start to think the actual design.

Why we chose the name ‘Archia Mansion’
Archia came from the village name.
There are a lot of abandoned and neglected mansions in the Hunedoara county. We found plenty pieces of furniture and old interior decorations and we bought them from the people that didn’t use them anymore.
Our desire was to recover part of this lost and forgotten traditions and bring them in the present light, at Archia Mansion.

Every room name
is inspired by the domain
And to amplify ‘special’ and ‘different’, we decided that in regards to the area, our story and materials we had, to give each room a theme, a story to be found in the design of each corner of the mansion.

The Traditional Room is dedicated to my grandmother from my mother side. The blouse on the wall belongs to her.

we opened Archia Mansion
We opened in full crisis,
with no tourism experience
In the first 4 month we didn’t make any money. In fact, we were losing money every day. What happen next?
We like to fight for the things we believe in. We like to learn continuously. We like and we permanently struggle for things to be good. This is why we manage to overcome the beggining challenges and move forward with trust.

In 2010 we built the pool and the ‘Poolside’ area for events. After that, two more events areas came in place: the ‘Garden’ pavilion and the ‘Chic’ pavilion.

In 2015 we started our rebranding process, and in 2016 we launched Archia Mansion for Contemporary Boyars’ concept.
This is why we wanted to bring in present the boyars life style, inviting home friends and business partners. We kind of know the people that come to visit us. With some of them we’ve been in touch, and with some of them we are going in holidays together.

In 2017, ‘Best boutique style pension’ award at Top Hotel Awards Romania.

In 2019 we launched the Carol Restaurant, dedicated to the paternal grandfather, a place of soul that aims to recover values and gastronomic traditions of the past.
We have the duty to inspire and work
for those who come here.
We built, we gathered, we modified, we planned. Always looking forward. We gave others. To fulfillment. Dignity, work, beautifully found, assumed present. We receive thanks, beauty and the same search we do everyday.
